01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

Step off the Toden Arakawa Line at Arakawa-Yūenchimae Stop and you will spot Cherry standing on the corner, an enduring coffee shop steeped in the character of the Showa era since the 1960s. Welcomed by a cherry tree by the front entrance, visitors find a friendly dining room with first-floor tables and a generous seating area on the 1nd floor where time slips by without rush.

Sculptural Parfaits and Homemade Desserts

A centerpiece of the menu is the Fruit Fashion, an eye-catching parfait piled high with an architectural crown of neatly carved citrus, melon, strawberries, and other seasonal fruit. The generously appointed Pudding à la Mode and the house custard pudding—firm-textured, lightly bitter around the caramel, and ringed with fresh fruit—remain beloved choices for straightforward kissaten luxury. Banana juice arrives poured to the brim in a full-sized beer mug, offering an unapologetically hearty serving of mellow, velvety sweetness.

From Morning Toast to Hearty Neapolitan

Morning hours bring morning sets combining toast, scrambled eggs, and seasonal fruit, setting a gentle tone for the day ahead. At lunchtime, the food menu expands into substantial comfort fare, from retro Neapolitan spaghetti and hamburger steaks to thick-cut pizza toast. Thoughtful details keep guests coming back, including iced coffee served over ice cubes made from chilled coffee so the drink never waters down to the last drop.

From the 2nd-floor window seats, guests can watch the streetcars roll gently past, making this a pleasant respite during neighborhood walks. Operating hours run from 9:00 in the morning until 21:00 in the evening; Cherry is closed on Mondays and accepts cash only.
